Our search engine optimization service typically comes in two flavors, namely the on-page and off-page varieties.
On-page search engine optimization service is the process of optimizing the underlying code (HTML) and content of a web page to be considered of particular importance to a search engine for the selected keyterm, and to therefore rank highly on search results lists.
Off-page search engine optimization service focuses more on getting high quality links to your site from other relevant, third party sites.
However, before either of the above can take place, some solid keyword research needs to be done - this is where we identify definite search trends for highly relevant search terms.
For example, if you wanted to come up high in the search engine results pages (SERPS) for 'financial advisor', then good luck to you! That term is extremely competitive, and it would be difficult to justify the costs associated with obtaining a top spot for this term.
However, if you wanted to come up tops for 'Pennsylvania Financial Advisor', then not only is that doable, but it would also get you a lot more targeted, quality visitors.
We also want you to know that our search engine optimization service is NOT about submitting your site to 100,000 search engines! Only a handful (about 8) search engines cater to over 95% of all searches done online - of these, we focus our search engine optimization efforts on the top three, namely Google, Yahoo, and MSN. Don't get caught out by someone offering a submission only service - you may as well just throw your money down the toilet.
How we approach search engine optimization
When we perform search engine optimization on your site, we apply BOTH on-page and off-page optimization. Here's an overview of our ten step process:
Identify the right keywords
Optimize the site design - sometimes this involves recreating all the pages from the ground up.
We modify the source code to bring it in line with the most recent spidering technology, indexing algorithms, and link relevancy factors that are employed by the top search engines, including:
Rename files and images where necessary.
Optimize page titles & meta-tags (other than keyword* and description tags, there are 4 others that are also particularly important)
Create a search engine friendly sitemap
Ensuring images and hyperlinks have appropriate alt tags and title tags
Optimize the internal linking structure
Optimize and mask the external linking structure
Move JavaScript and other extraneous code to external files
Utilize external Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
Ensure the optimum balance of keyword prominence and density
Flattening the directory structure as much as possible
Make dynamic pages appear static to SE's
Recoding CGIs to avoid long parameter-carrying URLs
and many other items besides these!
Before launching the site, we take a snapshot of benchmarks - how many visitors do the SE's send to the old site? Where do they rank for keywords at the moment? Etc...
We DON'T do submissions - they're bad! We lay spider bait at high-PR sites for Google, Yahoo, and MSN to find and follow - we vary the links, sometimes to the homepage, sometimes to the sitemap, and sometimes to specific pages we want crawled fast...
We write and publish press releases - these get links to the site in many high PR news sites, and lead to FAST top placement in SE's!
We create reciprocal and one-way links campaigns to retain the sites new top placement. This can involve purchasing / renting text links on an ongoing basis.
We add a script that let our clients see which spider visited the site on any given date / time, and which pages it spidered.
We add a script that logs all visits from search engine results pages (SERPS), so the client knows what data / time they visited, what SE they came from, what they searched for, and which page they landed on.
Then there is the ongoing maintenance of the text links, ensuring no competitors oust you from the top spots, etc.
We also use some 'insider' techniques to get contextually relevant links to your site from some Top-500 (as ranked by Alexa.com) websites, with high Google.com PageRanks - this allows the search engines spiders to find you themselves, which has a far greater impact on your PageRank and search results positioning than manually submitting your site.
